Football4Profit: News- Transfers in Football

There were some solid wins and some forseen transfers took place this week in the Italian Serie A league, as the European football season ramps up. Genoa finished the negotiations in relation to their deal with Brazilian midfielder Thiago Motta. The 26-year old has been a free agent since Atletico Madrid released him. He has put pen to paper on a one year deal with Genoa. Summer of 2007 marked his move from Barcelona to Atletico Madrid, but was released after only playing for the club 6 times. That contract had been for €2m, but this new move’s fee has not been released. He has battled a serious knee injury since 2004, the latest flare up occurred in March.

For the meantime, games are won and lost. The Italian league is currently being led by Atalanta and Lazio with six points a piece, being followed by a four point, four way tie between Inter Milan, Torino, Juventus, and Napoli. After two games, it really could be anyone’s season. Sampdoria lost to Lazio with a final score of 2-0, while Inter Milan beat out Catania with only 10 players on the field, to the celebration of Jose Mourinho (coach for Inter Milan) for his first Serie A win. Sunday left Atalanta as champions against Bologna with a single goal.

Other notable events in the Serie A include Milan losing out for the second time in two games, at Genoa. The loss came as a disappointment considering Kaka was able to play, coming back from a hurt that prevented him from playing in their first match. He was, however, unable to puncture through Genoa’s defences. Carlo Ancelotti, coach for Milan, was said to still be secure in his position, as vice president Adriano Galliani dismissed ideas of anything otherwise.
