Football4Profit: News It seems the Los Angeles Galaxy are hoping the key to their team’s comeback lies in one man: Bruce Arena, appointing him to fill all the roles. The 57-year old has agreed to act as both coach, replacing Ruud Gullit, who’s resignation was received August 11th citing personal reasons, as well as President and General Manager, filling the void left by Alexi Lalas, fired by the Galaxy. The institution is laying their money on Arena, who is a former US National team coach, to pull them out of the rut, having not won a game in more than two months- they’ve earned four losses and four draws. Amir Khan has recently signed a deal with Sky Sports to box on the network; the agreement to the “multi-fight deal” has the bookmakers jumping up to create markets- the first of which may be at Sky Bet, with 5/4 odds making Khan a world champion by the end of 2009. Khan currently holds the Commonwealth title, and a silver medal from the 2004 Olympics, as a lightweight. He’s made known his objective to become a world title holder in the near future, and is just making the move from regular TV (having boxed on ITV since he turned pro in ’05) to pay-per-view. His last fight televised on the network was his victory June 21st over Michael Gomez. His next scheduled fight is to be on September 6th on the new channel- against Colombian Breidis Prescott. The fight is listed as 1/33 chances he’ll win with Sky Bet, who also are offering 4/6 odds that Khan will earn one of the four major world titles- IBF, WBA, WBC, or WBO- by the end of 2009. The Yankees don’t seem able to catch a break with the injuries on their team. They’ve suffered another setback with a tentative injury by 22-year old pitcher Joba Chamberlain, citing a stiff right shoulder. The right-hander did have an MRI performed on the arm after he had to be removed from Monday’s game against the Texas Rangers. Joe Girardi, as manager for the team, was quoted as telling media that Chamberlain will probably miss his next turn in the rotation. Hopefully, it will end at that, because any longer of having him out of the game could be further trouble for the injury-cursed team. The Yankees are already down with both number one starter Chien Ming Wang and right hander Phil Hughes out of commission with hurts. Previous 'Other News' articles
